Food safety, quality control, and the production of safe and reliable food have become increasingly important for the protection of public health, the fulfillment of consumer expectations, and the sustainable development of the food industry. The diversification of food production and consumption chains, rapid technological advances, changing consumer habits, and increasingly comprehensive quality and safety requirements have all intensified the need for qualified technical personnel capable of contributing effectively to production, analysis, inspection, and quality control processes.
The Food Quality Control and Analysis Program at Alanya University Vocational School aims to educate qualified professionals who possess both theoretical knowledge and practical competence in evaluating food quality and safety throughout the entire food chain, from production to consumption. The program seeks to develop graduates who adopt scientific thinking, demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills, and act with a strong awareness of professional and ethical responsibilities.
In line with the needs of the food industry, the curriculum includes courses in areas such as Food Chemistry, Food Microbiology, Fundamental Analytical Techniques, Food Analysis, Quality Control, Hygiene and Sanitation, Food Legislation, Food Additives, Food Safety, and Microbial Foodborne Diseases. Theoretical instruction is reinforced through laboratory-based practical training, enabling students to develop competence in sampling, pre-analytical preparation, chemical and microbiological analyses, evaluation of analytical results, and interpretation of food quality criteria.
Throughout their education, students have the opportunity to become familiar with and gain practical experience in the use of fundamental laboratory instruments, equipment, and analytical methods. In addition, professional practice and internship opportunities allow students to observe production, quality control, hygiene, laboratory, and food safety processes within the food industry and to strengthen their professional experience in real working environments.
Students who successfully complete all courses and other graduation requirements specified in the curriculum are awarded an Associate Degree in Food Quality Control and Analysis. Graduates may pursue employment in food manufacturing enterprises, quality control and quality assurance units, public and private laboratories, R&D laboratories, institutional catering and hospitality establishments, and organizations providing food analysis and control services. Graduates who meet the relevant requirements may also continue their education in related undergraduate programs through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).
